One Voice - street children's art exhibition at the Foundling Museum
14 September 2010

One Voice is an exhibition of work inspired by and created by street children from eight countries during the Deloitte Street Child World Cup in Durban in March this year. This event united football and the arts to showcase the potential of these children, challenge misconceptions and let their voices be heard.

The teams of street children worked with professional artists to create sculpture, self portraits, photography and video around the themes of home, safety, health and education. This work was on display at Durban City Art Gallery throughout the FIFA World Cup.

This exhibition is being hosted by the Foundling Museum in Bloomsbury from Tuesday 14 September until Saturday 9 October Appropriately the Foundling was Britain's first home for abandoned children and site of England's first public art collection.

Excitingly the modern street children's art work will be spread through the museum's collection of 18th century works by Hogarth, Gainsborough and Joshua Reynolds.

The Foundling is a hidden gem of a museum telling the story of how the Foundling hospital was set up in the 1700s to take in children from the streets of London. It is a great destination for families and art lovers alike During the exhibition there will be special weekend events for children and families - see the Foundling website for information. It also has a great cafe!

Venue: The Foundling Museum, 40 Brunswick Square, London WC1N 1AZ
