Congratulations to the eight members of the Amos Road Club who took part in The Dunwich Dynamo overnight on Saturday 30th June. The 200km or 120 miles is an annual through-the-night bike ride from London to the ancient "city" of Dunwich on the Suffolk Coast, and is held when the moon is at it's fullest, so riders can bike by moonlight.
The ride is very informal and the team all said how much they enjoyed the community spirit. There is no official starting pistol, you just ride off from London Fields in East London. Due to the excellent weather of summer 2012, the over night ride was rather chilly, with some riders more prepared for this than others! The rather up and down terrain meant that you could see the red back lights of other riders stretching out in front of you as you rode.
The club members all raised a pound per kilometre, so a £200 each for Amos' partners round the world. They completed the ride in 12 hours and were able to enjoy a quick kip in the sunshine on the beach, before returning to London...by car. Thanks to everyone who took part in this terrific event.
The Amos Road Club is an informal group of Amos supporters who get together from time to time to pedal and raise money for Amos's partners around the world.
In previous years they have cycled across England, across Scotland and from London to Paris. Everyone is welcome from first timers and families to more serious cyclists, even tandem riders. The plan is a ride to Belgium for 2013.
You can still sponsor the Dunwich Dynamo cyclists via their Just Giving pages- you can sponsor Jenny and Mike here or William here or our Operations Manager Nive Hall and Amos's Director Chris Rose here.
Thanks to all riders and supporters through the night for pedal pushing for our partners.
