Paralympics resource for churches
17 July 2012
As the Olympics and Paralympics grow ever closer, our friends BMS World Mission have launched a new campaign and resources for churches Undefeated, which highlight the injustices faced by people with disabilities all over the world.
Recent WHO research has found that more than one billion people worldwide live with some form of disability. If they all became one country, they’d be the third largest nation on earth. Undefeated points out that that nation would also have the world’s highest rates of homelessness, unemployment, divorce, abuse and suicide.
To highlight this injustice Undefeated aims to secure better rights for disabled people around the world - and to inspire churches to celebrate the faith and excellence of Paralympians.
The campaign calls on churches to ask the government to prioritise the promotion of inclusion policies for disabled people on all foreign aid project
BMS World Mission in association with More than Gold have created an Undefeated resource DVD for churches, with ideas for holding a special service during the Olympics and Paralympics. Amos Trust is an official partner of the Undefeated campaign and we have contributed some prayers to the DVD.
