Anna Walsh, Amos' Secretarial Assistant, took some time off in late June and early July - although she didn't spend it all relaxing in the garden! In fact, she was cycling to Edinburgh with a large group of other people, including rickshaw riders, to join in the Make Poverty History events at the time of the G8 meeting in Gleneagles. The 2004 Greenbelt Festival audience were shocked when a planned visit organised by Christian Aid of their partner Annie Namala together with 3 drummers and dancers from the Dalit community (whom Garth Hewitt and Paul Field had worked with on their album 'The Dalit Drum') ended up as a visit by Annie only, as the drummers and dancers were not granted 12-day visas to enter the UK.  read more…

On 14 January 2004 Oona King MP (Bethnal Green & Bow), who last year visited Palestine/Israel with Christian Aid, launched Garth Hewitt's new book 'Towards the Dawn' at Church House, Westminster. The book takes the reader on a journey through the Church's year from Easter to Trinity, and also geographically from Jerusalem through Bethlehem to Nazareth and Galilee. It tells the story of the current situation through the voices of the Christian Church, and through peacemakers from all communities, whether Jewish, Christian or Muslim.  read more…
