The COVID-19 pandemic arrived in Nicaragua at a time when the country was already facing the accelerating impacts of climate breakdown. From devastating hurricanes to prolonged droughts, Nicaragua has been on the frontline of the climate crisis for years.

Dámaris Albuquerque from CEPAD shares the latest news on how coronavirus affected communities already struggling with climate-related disasters and economic hardship.

We also explore how the pandemic could reshape our response to climate justice. Jocelyn Timperley from DeSmog UK, youth climate activist Molly Elliot and Richard Elliot from Pickwell Foundation discuss how we can emerge from this crisis with a far stronger call for climate action.

 Our guests:

  • Dámaris Albuquerque: CEPAD, Nicaragua
  • Jocelyn Timperley: DeSmog UK
  • Molly Elliot: Youth climate activist
  • Richard Elliot: Pickwell Foundation
