Dialogue and annexation: Palestine during coronavirus
Thursday 4th June 2020
In the summer of 2020, as the world grappled with the COVID-19 pandemic, the new Israeli government announced plans to annex large parts of the West Bank. This webinar explores whether coronavirus created opportunities for dialogue between Palestinians and Israelis, or whether it further polarised positions.
Zoughbi Zoughbi and Lucy Talgieh from Wi’am Conflict Resolution Centre in Bethlehem share their perspective from the ground, discussing the impact of both the pandemic and the looming threat of annexation on Palestinian communities.
Wi’am, based in Bethlehem, works to build bridges through nonviolent conflict resolution, community mediation and peace education. Their work takes on new urgency as political tensions escalate and opportunities for dialogue become more critical than ever.
The conversation includes a call for urgent action over the annexation plans and explores what solidarity looks like during this pivotal moment.
