This Alternative Pilgrimage to Palestine has been organised in partnership with two parishes in Bow and Poplar, East London but is open to anybody. We will be based in Bethlehem and Nazareth with time in Jerusalem, Hebron and Nablus — on the shores of Lake Galilee, and in the Judean wilderness.

You will spend 1 night in Jerusalem, 4 nights in Bethlehem, followed by 1 night in Nablus and finish with 3 nights in Nazareth. You will also:

  • visit the historic and biblical sights in Jerusalem, (Mount of Olives, Church of the Holy Sepulchre, Western Wall, Haram al-Sharif), Bethlehem, Nazareth and on the shores of Galilee

  • meet Amos’ inspirational partners; visit the young people of Alrowwad Cultural Centre in Aida Refugee camp and hear how they promote ‘Beautiful non-violent Resistance’

  • hear about the issues facing women on the West Bank at Wi’am Reconciliation Centre and enjoy a BBQ in the shadow of the Separation Wall and be inspired by Holy Land
Trusts promotion of peace and non-violence

  • visit Banksy’s Walled Off Hotel in Bethlehem; the inspirational Tent of Nations and one of the homes that Amos Trust has rebuilt; hear Palestinian and Israeli peacemakers talk of their hopes and struggles

  • see for yourself the impact on Palestinian life today, of the Separation Wall, settlement expansion and the street closures such as in Hebron’s Old City

  • meet local people and enjoy incredible Palestinian hospitality; explore, shop and wander around the streets of Bethlehem and Nazareth

  • spend time being still in the Judean desert and on the waters of Galilee, and have a chance to reflect on how biblical stories feed into the current situation and catch a fresh glimpse of the Lent and Easter stories.

A view over the Old City of Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives.

Take a tour of Jerusalem — stopping on the Mount of Olives and the Garden of Gethsemane before entering the Old City and walking the Via Dolorosa, the path that Jesus walked on the way to his crucifixion.

Amos has the most incredible partners. I met so many people and went to places I could never have gone to on my own on a ‘regular’ pilgrimage." Judith, Alternative Pilgrimage
