What will we be doing?

For many of us, a Palestine Experience trip was our first visit to the West Bank and it proved to be life-changing. This trip is a combination of:

  • meeting local Palestinians
  • listening to inspirational peace activists
  • seeing the facts on the ground
  • visiting historic/holy sites
  • experiencing amazing hospitality
  • having time out to stop and to think.

“Why go to Palestine with Amos Trust? Because you have to see for yourself to believe and start to understand.”

The trip will include: **

  • visiting the historic sites in Jerusalem’s Old City and the Mount of Olives

  • spending time in Bethlehem, seeing the Separation Wall first hand, visiting Banksy’s Walled Off Hotel, spending time in Manger Square, visiting the Church of the Nativity and meeting with Amos partner’s Holy Land Trust, Wi’am and Alrowwad

  • visiting Hebron and the South Hebron Hills to understand more of the impact of Israel’s Occupation of the West Bank where we will visit our partners HIRN as well as the Tent of Nations and one of the homes that we have rebuilt

  • visiting the Dead Sea and the Judean Desert

  • driving north through the West Bank to Nablus, we will visit the historic Souk — the home of Kanapfe, the famous Palestinian dessert, and nearby Sebastia

  • visiting Nazareth, to see its beautiful churches, stay in historic guest houses and hear about the pressures faced by Palestinian citizens of Israel

  • visiting Galilee where we will spend time on its shores, visiting the biblical sites and have time to think through our visit.

There will be time off in Bethlehem and Nazareth to relax and to shop. There will also be time spent in people’s homes, hearing their stories with the chance to eat some great (vegan friendly) food, and see some traditional Palestinian culture.

We will provide opportunities for those who wish to attend a Sunday Service or Friday Prayers and we will also have time for people to get together and discuss what they have been experiencing, as well as making sure there is lots of laughter.

What you need to know

Please read the Essential Information for this trip before booking.

Change The Record

Our Palestine travel programme is a vital part of our Change The Record campaign with its call for full equal rights for everyone who calls Palestine/Israel home. This trip will include time talking through some simple ways in which participants can respond to what they have experienced and we will provide opportunities for people to explore this further once they have returned home.

Coronavirus

We are monitoring the rules and advice on international travel closely. Likewise, we need to make the trip itinerary and logistics as Covid-secure as possible.

You will need to confirm that you have been fully vaccinated before travelling with us and fulfil all necessary Covid testing requirements that are in effect at the time of this trip.

If the travel rules and advice in place between the UK and Israel/Palestine at the end of January 2022 are so restrictive as to make group travel unviable, (i.e. extended periods of quarantine on arrival or return, or we are advised not to travel), we will postpone the trip. We will offer all participants places on a rescheduled trip in October 2022 or a full refund.

If international travel rules or advice changes after the end of January 2022 we will contact participants immediately to notify them of any changes that we have had to make.

Offsetting Emmissions

Amos Trust is very conscious of the environmental impact of flying. We believe that the importance of our travel programme in promoting Palestinian rights warrants these flights, and we seek to ensure that we make the best possible use of them.

We offset the carbon burnt on our trips through a tree-planting programme with our Nicaraguan partners CEPAD, and offer all participants the chance to do the same. A return flight from London Heathrow to Ben Guirion airport in Tel Aviv emits approximately 1.2 tonnes of CO2. We calculate the full carbon compensation cost for this journey to be £30.
