palestine 'right to movement' marathon

Started in 2012, the Palestine 'Right to Movement' Marathon in Bethlehem was set up to raise awareness of the fact that you can't run 26 miles in the Little Town without going through a checkpoint. For local people to take part in the marathon, organisers had to make the route around Bethlehem a loop.

"All of us were there to be part of this: an act of solidarity and resistance; to run the streets of this West Bank city until we could run no more (because of checkpoints and walls). And then to run back again. We were there to make a point and to make it with our whole bodies."

Paul Northup, Greenbelt Festival Creative Director who ran the 2015 Bethlehem Marathon.

Run the Palestine Marathon in Bethlehem: 20th – 25th March 2018

Join Team Amos and run the Palestine Marathon or Half Marathon in Bethlehem.

Amos Trust has been taking part since the very beginning and has seen this very special event grow year on year. Even for the most experienced runners, there is something very powerful about running through the streets of Bethlehem in solidarity with Palestinians that cannot run more than 13 miles without literally hitting a wall.

The Palestine Marathon takes place around Easter each year and Amos Trust builds a 5-day trip around the run, spending time in Jerusalem, Bethlehem and Hebron, enjoying the sites, the sounds and the local cuisine as well as spending time with our inspiring partners, hearing their stories and finding out about the reality of life in Palestine.

Team Amos welcomes runners of all ages, to run either the full or half marathon. We ask runners to fundraise for our partners in Palestine, while we provide resources and support to help you reach this target. So join Team Amos today by contacting or click on the button below to register now.
