About this trip

The Palestine Marathon is a unique experience which is now nearly as popular in Bethlehem as Christmas! Join 10,000 other runners to celebrate the right to movement in a city hemmed in by the Separation Wall and Israel’s illegal settlement-building programme.

Set up to raise awareness of the fact that you can’t run 26 miles in Bethlehem without going through a checkpoint or literally hitting the Wall, this is a unique course, and as it includes Marathon, Half Marathon, 10km, and family-friendly 5km runs, is ideal for all ages and abilities.

Fundraising

We ask all team members to use the Marathon as an opportunity to raise vital funds for our work in the West Bank and Gaza. You can read more about this incredible work here. We ask that you do your best to raise £1,000 or more through sponsorship and/or local events.

Amos Trust’s fundraising team will be on hand to help you every step of the way. Contact [email protected] if you would like to chat about this before committing. Otherwise, our fundraising team will be in touch as soon as you sign up.

I felt like I’d been run over by a bus the next day, but I wouldn’t have changed it for the world. I loved raising money, I loved being in Palestine and seeing where the money I had raised for Amos was going, I loved doing the run, and I loved being part of the team. And I really really really loved all those falafels. Tara Wigley, Ottolenghi

Run Palestine revolves around the Marathon, but you will also have time to:

  • visit East Jerusalem and the historic sites in the Old City,
  • spend time in Bethlehem, seeing the Separation Wall first hand, visit Banksy’s Walled Off Hotel, and meet with Amos partners, Holy Land Trust, Wi’amAlrowwad and HIRN,
  • visit Hebron to understand more of the impact of Israel’s Occupation,
  • spend time the desert and visit the Dead Sea,
  • run with Right To Movement – Amos’ close friends, the founders of the Palestine Marathon and partners in our Run The Wall fundraiser.

What you need to know

Our Palestine travel programme is a vital part of our Change The Record campaign, which promotes Palestinian rights.

We closely monitor the rules and advice on international travel and seek to keep all those travelling with us abreast of any significant changes. The safety and well-being of all those involved in our travel programme are paramount to us.

Offsetting Emissions

Amos Trust is very conscious of the environmental impact of flying. However, we believe that the importance of our travel programme in promoting Palestinian rights warrants these flights, and we seek to ensure that we make the best possible use of them.

We offset the carbon burnt on our trips through a tree-planting programme with our partners and offer all participants the chance to do the same.

For example, a return flight from London Heathrow to Ben Gurion Tel Aviv emits approximately 1.2 tonnes of CO2. We calculate the total Carbon Compensation cost for this is £30.

* The situation in the West Bank can be quite fluid, and plans may need to change at the last minute.

NB: Please do not register via the Palestine Marathon website. We have a group of places held by the event organisers as one of their UK partners so if you register directly with them, you may end up paying the entry fee twice.
