Walk The West Bank 2019
Tuesday 29th October – Saturday 9th November 2019
SOLD OUT — this trip is now full.
Two years after the end of Just Walk to Jerusalem, Holy Land Trust and Siraaj Centre are offering a chance to walk from Jenin to Jericho along Masar Ibrahim trail. The walk will start in the village of Rummana, north-west of Jenin, and gradually descend to Jericho where we will complete the first half of the Masar Ibrahim trail which runs down through the West Bank and finishes south-west of Hebron.
You will walk through Burqin, home to the famous 4th Century church, and from there we will visit the Freedom Theatre in Jenin. Then over the next couple of days, we will walk down through Palestine’s most fertile region, over the hill-tops to the historic town of Sabastiya with its vast Roman Ruins.
From here we journey down to the thriving city of Nablus and enjoy the local delicacy of Kanafeh in the Old Souk. We'll follow the path which climbs to Duma and Kafir Malek (where we have the chance to visit the Taybeh Brewing Company) before descending down the Wadi al–auja and into the Jordan valley before a brief walk into Jericho, the lowest city on Earth.
We will be staying in guest houses, home-stays, Bedouin camps, and hotels. There will be lots of great food, great hospitality, and amazing views. The trip will be led by a local Palestinian guide who is familiar with the route and two of the Just Walker's — Denise and Tim, who both completed Just Walk in 2017.
The walk is open to anyone who is reasonably fit and there will be a support vehicle carrying our bags. It will be led at a leisurely pace and we will happily offer advice to those who are concerned by this.
We will send through kit lists nearer the time and there will be qualified First-Aiders on the walk with you. You can find out more about the route here. For further details, please email email@example.com
