Climate Justice Summit 2019

Once In A Lifetime
Monday 23rd – Wednesday 25th September 2019
Climate change is a justice issue. Those who have the least political and economic power, and the least responsibility for the changing climate, are affected the most. We have a moral and ethical imperative
to respond to their call for immediate action.

Once In A Lifetime
Climate Justice Summit, Cambridge

Monday 23rd – Wednesday 25th September
St Paul’s Church, Hill Road, Cambridge
Directions

Climate change is a justice issue.
Those who have the least political and economic power, and the least responsibility for the changing climate, are affected the most. We have a moral and ethical imperative
to respond to their call for immediate action.

We are inviting community activists, experts, artists and theologians from the UK and the Global South to take part in an interactive 3-day summit at the
St Paul’s Centre in Cambridge.

Themes will include:

  •
creating sustainable local responses to the impact of
    climate change
  • building connections between responses in the Global
    South and Global North
  • following young people’s lead on climate justice
  • developing spiritualities that will sustain our activism
  • why women must be at the centre for action to work
  • using social media and direct action to achieve
    meaningful change
  • ensuring theologies of climate justice are rooted in the
    South.

Dámaris E. Albuquerque from CEPAD in Nicaragua.

We are delighted that Dámaris E. Albuquerque (above), and Gilberto Aguirre from our partner CEPAD in Nicaragua will be joining us. CEPAD equips rural communities to develop sustainable local responses to the impact of climate change.

Nicaragua is particularly vulnerable to climate change — according to the 2017 Global Climate Risk Index, Nicaragua is the fourth most at-risk nation in the world due to changing climates. It is the second poorest country in the Western Hemisphere.

Booking will open in May.
