You can help save the UK’s charities

The 2.6 Challenge
Building involvement and generating funds through events is at the very heart of what Amos does. We are therefore delighted to join the whole UK charity sector in supporting the launch of the 2.6 Challenge.
The Covid-19 pandemic has had a catastrophic effect with the cancellation of thousands of events and the loss of billions in income through fundraising events. The London Marathon alone, which should have taken place on Sunday 26 April, is the world’s biggest one-day fundraising event, which raised more than £66.4 million for thousands of charities in 2019.
We know that many of you have already given generously to our Emergency Coronavirus Appeal but if you would like to join countless charity fundraisers in taking on a challenge or making a donation that will help Amos replace some of the funds we expected to raise from our planned events, this is what to do.
Whatever your age or ability, you can take part — this is not about Super Heroes — we’re looking for Home Heroes. The 2.6 Challenge can be any activity you like. You just say what it is you want to do and get on and do it. Then you either ask people to support you or make a donation of £26 yourself.
Here are a few ideas we liked:
— run, walk or cycle for 2.6 miles
— do 26 mins of gardening
— flip 26 pancakes
— phone 26 friends to check how they are doing in isolation
— hold a plank for 2.6 minutes.
Or, if you are already one of those annoyingly active types, you can do what Amos Director Chris Rose is doing — for every day for 26 days from Sunday 26th April that he doesn’t complete a 2.6 Challenge, he is going to donate £26.
Joining in to support Amos Trust couldn’t be simpler:
— visit https://www.twopointsixchallenge.co.uk/
— click on the Fundraise Now button (don’t click donate at this point)
— click on Justgiving
You will then need to choose one of two options:
— let your friends and family know what you are doing
— share photos of your challenge with us using Instagram or Facebook... here’s how.
Before posting your images and videos on Facebook, please ‘Like’ the Amos Trust Page (just click on the link above or search ‘Amos Trust’), then tag us in your Post. We’ll do the rest.
You can tag us on Instagram by simply using our ’@name’ — just type @amos_trust and if you’re using the actual Instagram app on your phone, our name should come up. If not, simply type it in full.
Our Twitter name is @AmosTrust. When posting to your own Twitter account, just @name us as above.
The 2.6 Challenge hashtag is #TwoPointSixChallenge so please use this across your social posts as well as #amostrust of course.
Thank you and good luck!
At the core of Amos Trust’s work are the individuals who support us. Our work is made possible by you. Large or small, your donation makes a real difference.
