From Beirut to Jerusalem – Dr Swee Ang
This is the story of Dr Swee Ang, a Penang-born orthopaedic surgeon, and her flight to war-torn Lebanon in 1982 to treat the wounded and dying. “An eyewitness account of the massacres that cuts through the cotton wool to go to the very heart of the matter.” The Guardian.

This book, a quarter of a century after the Zionist-perpetrated massacre in Shabra and Shatila which killed thousands of Palestinian civilians, is a tribute to the ongoing struggle against Zionist occupation in the Holy Lands. This 25th-anniversary updated edition also includes the writer’s reflections on the Israeli attacks on Gaza in early 2009.

“I still have with me my picture of destitute Palestinian children of Shatila camp standing amid the ruin and rubble. They survived the massacre but lost their parents and homes. We thought all was lost. But they raised their hands making the victory sign and said to me “We are not afraid, let Israel come”.
I have returned many times to the camp but never been able to find those children again. They must have perished since. But they live forever in my heart. Whenever the situation becomes unbearable, I revisit this picture for strength.”
All profits from the sale of Swee’s book from our website will go towards our work in the West Bank and Gaza.
