About Tanita

Tanita Tikaram doesn’t do things by halves. She was just 19 when her 1988 debut album Ancient Heart landed — a record that would go on to sell four million copies worldwide and turn its lead single, Twist in My Sobriety, into a bona fide classic. Born in Münster, Germany, to an Indo-Fijian father and a Sarawakian Malay mother, Tanita moved to Hampshire as a teenager and was discovered singing in nightclubs while still at school — an unlikely start to a career that’s now spanned close to four decades.

Since then, Tanita has released a run of acclaimed albums — from The Sweet Keeper and Everybody’s Angel through to The Cappuccino Songs and, most recently, LIAR (Love Isn’t A Right) — and built a reputation as one of Britain’s most distinctive and enduring singer-songwriters. Her voice — deep, warm and unmistakably her own — has soundtracked decades of British life, and she continues to write, record and tour with the same restless creativity that marked her earliest work.

Al Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza City

Amos Trust is a UK-based creative human rights organisation, working alongside communities in Palestine who are standing up for justice, dignity and their right to a future. As Amos mark’s its 40th anniversary, our work spans Palestine Justice, Climate Justice and Gender Justice — always rooted in the belief that lasting change comes from the people living the injustice, not from us speaking on their behalf.

In Gaza, that means working alongside partners like Al Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza City, which has stayed open throughout the war despite being hit eight times. For over 30 years, Amos Trust has supported Al Ahli’s breast cancer screening and women’s health programmes, helping catch a disease that kills more women in Gaza than anywhere else in the region. Before the war, that programme reached thousands of women a year with awareness training and annual screening; now, as the hospital stabilises, we’re helping it start that life-saving work again.

Every ticket sold and donation made helps Amos keep that promise — to Al Ahli, and to everyone else across Palestine still waiting for the world to notice.
