What do we feel when we look at a good photograph? We just want to be there, right at the exact moment that photo was taken.”

The Trip

Join us for a fantastic 7-day trip based in Bethlehem to coincide with the 2024 Bet Lahem Live Arts Festival, where you can begin to understand the issues through your camera lens. You will spend time travelling around the West Bank, meeting and photographing communities and standing in solidarity with those living under occupation.

Watch our short film about Bet Lahem Live.

This trip aims to capture real-life images and stories, so we want to take photography students, working photographers, photo-journalists and travel photographers near the beginning of their careers. A strong portfolio of work must be shown as part of the application process

(((What are we offering?)))

  • (((a unique mentoring opportunity)))
  • (((going somewhere no one goes)))

(((Something here about letting Amos use your Top 20 images with full credit, not ownership, and applying for bursaries and trust funds to finance their trip.)))

We know too well that our freedom is incomplete without the freedom of the Palestinians. Nelson Mandela

This trip is ideal for:

  • photography students and early-career professional photographers with a strong portfolio of work
  • travel photographers who want to share powerful stories of the voiceless who would like to visit Palestine/Israel for the first time
  • photographers who are willing to be mentored by two experienced professionals
  • those who want to understand more about Palestine through their camera lens.

On this unique Amos trip to Palestine, you will:

  • be given real-life projects to work on under supervision from your mentors
  • visit refugee camps around Bethlehem and meet local communities
  • shoot famous landmarks in the Old City of Jerusalem and landscapes in Jericho and the Dead Sea
  • photograph the vibrant Bet Lahem Live Arts Festival at night
  • get a tour of Banksy’s Walled Off Hotel in Bethlehem
  • find out more about day-to-day life in Palestine and the pressures people face.

Please note: Unfortunately we are not looking to take keen amateur photographers on this particular trip.

* Prices will be based on two people sharing. Single rooms are available upon payment of a supplementary fee.

What you need to know
Change The Record

Our Palestine travel programme is a vital part of our Change The Record campaign with its call for full equal rights for everyone who calls Palestine/Israel home. This trip will include time talking through some simple ways in which participants can respond to what they have experienced and we will provide opportunities for people to explore this further once they have returned home.

We closely monitor the advice and guidance on travelling to Israel and the West Bank. If the guidance changes, we will adjust the trip accordingly as the safety and well-being of participants is of paramount importance to us.

Offsetting Emissions

Amos Trust is very conscious of the environmental impact of flying. We believe that the importance of our travel programme in promoting Palestinian rights warrants these flights, and we seek to ensure that we make the best possible use of them.

We offset the carbon burnt on our trips through a tree-planting programme with our Nicaraguan partners CEPAD, and offer all participants the chance to do the same. A return flight from London Heathrow to Ben Guirion airport in Tel Aviv emits approximately 1.2 tonnes of CO2. We calculate the full carbon compensation cost for this journey to be (((£30))).
