In our first blog post of the year, you will read about some of the occasions in 2024 when we heard about the ‘other world’ taking a breath. Sometimes, it was a long, deep gasp of air, others a rattly asthmatic cough.

Since October 2023, Gaza has endured a catastrophic Israeli military assault that has forcibly displaced more than 1.9 million people — nearly 90% of its population. Families are surviving in tents or makeshift shelters with very little protection against the harsh winter.

The recent ceasefire has brought a vital pause to the death and destruction unleashed upon Gaza. It has also highlighted the level of destruction and appalling conditions people face as they try to rebuild their lives. Read our full Gaza Appeal update.

In February 2025, Chris Rose, Amos Trust’s Director, visited Nicaragua to meet with the former CEPAD team and trustees. His visit aimed to express our ongoing support, gain a deeper understanding of Nicaragua’s political climate and plan our next steps.

In the early hours of Tuesday 18th March, Israel launched fresh bombing raids on Gaza, tearing up what was left of the ceasefire agreement. These raids killed over 404 people (including 100 children), injured hundreds more and terrified the entire community.
