This Earth Day, we have a remarkable opportunity

Through the Big Give’s Big Earth Raise, we’ve been awarded £8,000 of match funding. Donate between midday on Wednesday 22nd April and midday on Wednesday 29th April, and your gift will be doubled. Every pound you give will go twice as far.

At Amos Trust, we believe that the people closest to the climate crisis are often best placed to address it. Nowhere is that clearer than in our Climate Fellowship — a vibrant network of young female climate activists and land defenders from Mexico and Central America, reclaiming land, reviving Indigenous knowledge and challenging those who put profit before the planet.

“I think that being part of the fellowship strengthened our networks, gave us the tools we need and inspired us that there are also other young women who are doing something to make this world more just and sustainable.” Frida Rocha, who launched a youth-led initiative outside Mexico City as part of the Climate Fellowship in 2025.

Over the last two years, we have supported 25 women land defenders and their projects have impacted over 1300 people in their communities across Central America. This year, 14 new activists from Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua and Costa Rica will receive training and seed funding to set up projects in areas such as disaster risk management, sustainable farming, water protection, conservation, coastal restoration and support for displaced Indigenous women, but they cannot do this without your support.

Your donation will mean we can offer:

Training

Train and equip 14 young women climate activists to set up their own local projects fighting climate change in their communities. These include:

  • a community-led, women-led disaster warning and risk management plan in Guerrero, Mexico
  • new projects to train women in soil conservation and water management
  • the creation of  sustainable food production by harnessing centuries-old traditions to restore farm land that has become infertile.

Networking

Provide a space through our Micelias network for women land defenders, who are so often isolated and vulnerable, to join together and encourage one another as they stand on the front lines of environmental justice. The network already has almost 100 members and is growing rapidly. Members will build meaningful connections, share knowledge, and support each other.

Learning hubs

Bring women land defenders together at two learning hubs in Nicaragua and Mexico to share and learn together.

Right now, thanks to match funding from the Big Give, £10 becomes £20, £20 becomes £40 and £40 becomes £80. But the window is short — donations must be made between midday 22nd April and midday 29th April to qualify.
