Although we could not be together in person for our Christmas event in 2020, we came together online for our Bethlehem Big Give Christmas Event to stand in solidarity with the children and young people of Palestine during the holiday season.

The event brought together messages from our partners in Palestine, the premiere of two new films from Gaza, and contributions from poets, musicians and friends around the world. In a year when gathering was impossible, we created a space for community, celebration and solidarity.

Harry Baker, Zena Kazeme and Justin Butcher shared poetry and Martyn Joseph, Garth Hewitt and Beth Rowley offered music. Sami Awad from Holy Land Trust and others brought thought-provoking reflections on hope, resistance and what Christmas means in Bethlehem.

It was a reminder that even when we’re apart, solidarity connects us — and that Christmas in Bethlehem has always been about hope in the face of impossible odds.
