All you need is pancakes.
Pancakes are all you need.
What do you like on your pancake? Lemon and sugar? Perhaps a dribble of maple syrup? On Shrove Tuesday, we shook things up a bit and asked some fantastic Palestinian chefs to join us for a live Palestinian Pancake Party.
Phoebe Rison from the Olive Tree Kitchen (and Sabeel-Kairos), Manal Ramadam White from Zaytoun and Sally Azzam from the Liwan Cafe in Nazareth (and Amos Trust staff member) joined other Palestinian chefs to share their own unique Palestinian pancake recipes — both savoury and sweet.
They ran through the ingredients and their significance in Palestine and demonstrated how to cook their traditional pancakes before showing us, one they made earlier! As they mixed, poured and tossed, they chatted with our resident cooking host Chris Rose (who also prepared one earlier) about the unique dishes cooked in Palestine during Lent, the importance of Fair Trade Fortnight for Palestinian farmers, the growth of interest in Palestinian cooking and Amos’ new Taste of Palestine programme.
