Episode three of Amos@6 was a special webinar to celebrate the UN’s International Day of the Girl. Too often, conversations about girls and young women on the streets happen without them — their lives discussed, their needs debated, but their voices absent.
This webinar puts girls’ voices at the centre.
Featuring pre-recorded films from girls and young women from New Generation in Burundi, uMthombo in South Africa and Karunalaya in India, we hear directly from those whose experiences are usually filtered through others. They share their own stories, in their own words, about their lives, their struggles and their hopes for the future.
Mpendulo Nyembe from uMthombo in Durban hosts a discussion reflecting on what we’ve heard and what it means for how we work in solidarity with girls and young women.
