Sea-To-Sea ride

Join us as cycle a total distance of 137 miles over three days from Whitehaven to Penrith to Edmundsbury to Tynemouth through the beautiful Lake District and the Pennines — a lovely ride for cyclists of all abilities.

  • Whitehaven to Tynemouth
  • Cost: £150
  • 137 miles | 3,500m climb over three days

Day 1: Whitehaven to Penrith

48 miles | 1,500 metre climb 

  • Leaving Whitehaven at 11:00am
  • Includes picnic lunch and snacks on route, an evening meal and overnight shared accommodation in Penrith.

Day 2: Penrith to Edmundsbury/Rowley (near Consett)

52 miles | 1,600 metre climb

  • Includes breakfast, picnic lunch and snacks on route, an evening meal and overnight shared accommodation in Edmundsbury and Rowley.

Day 3: Edmundsbury/Rowley to Tynemouth

37 miles | 400 metre climb

  • Includes breakfast, picnic lunch and snacks on route
  • We will aim to arrive in Tynemouth early afternoon.

Further details

  • regular food and water stops will be provided on route,
  • a support vehicle will follow the riders. However, riders must carry all essential equipment to mend punctures and fix minor mechanicals,
  • riders are responsible for their own safety and well-being,
  • we ask all riders to wear a helmet, be sensible when descending, and look out for one another,
  • the support vehicle will ferry people’s overnight bags to the next night’s accommodation. 

Overnight accommodation on Monday 27th May will be available in Whitley Bay for those who wish to participate in the Sunrise-To-Sunset challenge. Or transport will be arranged for people who need to head back to Whitehaven at an additional cost (to be finalised).
