We have our final day in France before entering Switzerland at the pass just beyond the Alpine ski resort of Jougne.

The Via Francigena here goes up over 1,000 metres for the first time and then we drop down to Orbe. We then continue gently down toward Lausanne, the capital of French-speaking Switzerland. From there we walk around the eastern edge of Lac Leman (aka Lake Geneva) through the renowned vineyards of Lavaux, and the towns of Vevey and Montraux and beside the inspiring Chateau de Chillon. 

The path then leaves the lake and heads up the Vaux (Rhone) Valley towards the historically and important St Maurice and the Chapelle de Notre Dame du Scex.

This week includes 4 nights camping on the shores of Lake Geneva.
